Local artist Marita Dingus assists students in developing and executing ideas for sculptures that incorporate a variety of media. Various methods of attachment and construction are covered within a context of experimentation and personal development. Students discover the possibilities of using low-tech means for creating complex and unique sculptural forms.
Marita Dingus All levels of students July 21–24, 10 am–4 pm
Marita Dingus has been subject of solo exhibitions throughout the world. Born in Auburn, Wash., she received a B.F.A. from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and M.A. and M.F.A. degrees from San Jose State University. She was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1999. Dingus’ powerful, mixed-media 400 Men of African Descent is in the Seattle Art Museum’s permanent collection. sedersgallery.com/Artists/036/36-000.html
