Byzantium West: Ravenna’s Mosaics

The Late Roman, Ostrogothic, and Byzantine empires all fought over Ravenna and left unique artistic monuments there. Saints and sheep, stars and flowers, and Emperor Justinian and Empress Theodora appear in Ravenna’s glittering mosaics, undimmed fifteen centuries after their making.
