To this day in Dutch, a “Jan Steen household” means one characterized by chaos. The temperamental opposite of Vermeer, Jan Steen painted rambunctious scenes in which children, dogs, even pigs disrupt the order of domestic life in seventeenth-century Holland.

Individual tickets may be available for purchase on a space-available basis on the day of each lecture. Tickets are released first-come, first-served. Individual tickets for each Thursday evening lecture and reception are $11 members, seniors, students, teachers, artists; $16 nonmembers. Individual tickets for Friday morning lectures are $10 members, seniors, students, teachers, artists; $15 nonmembers.
