Education Wing Exhibition – Clicks and Cuts: Sound Retooled

February 25, 2008 - June 1, 2008

Audio and sculptural artworks made by teens during the SHFT Fall 2007 workshop Sound Dust, taught by artist Susan Robb, are on display in the Education Wing. In this program, students explored the world of sound through active listening and drawing. They experimented with different ways of creating sound art by circuit bending, making tape loops, gathering field recordings, and putting together digital sound arrangements. On view are sculptures of manipulated electronic toys with their companion sound compositions made into digital recordings, accompanied by a listening station with soundscapes created by four-track recorders featuring an imaginative use of source material.
