Metaphorically Speaking
September 01 - December 02, 2007
Metaphorically Speaking featured single-channel DVD works made by teens during the Museum’s summer program Metaphors in Material Language. The studio workshop was taught by artist Susie J. Lee in conjunction with the exhibition Anxious Objects: Willie Cole’s Favorite Brands. Students manipulated materials and physical objects to examine their symbolic meaning. As they made their artwork they considered the passage of time, qualities of light, and properties of the four elements. These all became resources as they conceived metaphors expressive of their personal points of view presented here.
