Visual Diaries: Imagined Landscapes
September 30 - December 03, 2006
Visual Diaries: Imagined Landscapes features artwork created by Youth In Focus students who participated in the Visual Diaries class taught by artist Larry Calkins this past summer. Students drew inspiration from the work of Henry Darger to create the final pieces on exhibition. "A visual diary is a more holistic form of expression; it incorporates photography, but it also stretches beyond it," Calkins explains. "A book piece can incorporate more of a person's experience; it becomes a map that can hold the contents of your mind or feelings."
