Samantha Boshnack

Composer and trumpeter Samantha Boshnack earned a BA from Bard College in 2003. Boshnack then relocated to Seattle and joined the modern jazz group Reptet–releasing three critically acclaimed full-length records and a vinyl single, all comprised mostly of Boshnack originals. Boshnack has toured Africa, Europe, Canada, and extensively in the United States. She leads two ensembles dedicated solely to performing her music: the B’shnorkestra and the Sam Boshnack Quintet. Boshnack also composes for the Cuban-inspired band Picoso and two leading modern big bands: WACO (Washington Composers Orchestra) and Seattle Jazz Composer Ensemble. She has received support from Artist Trust, Meet The Composer, 4Culture, Jack Straw Productions, ASCAPlus, and the Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs. In 2012 Boshnack was named Emerging Artist of the Year by Earshot Jazz and was selected and attended the Jazz Composers Orchestra Institute presented by Columbia University, American Composers Orchestra, and UCLA.
