Expanding the Now: The Continual Line

Performance with The Black Constellation and special guests, including Ishmael Butler and Tendai Maraire of Shabazz Palaces, Erik Blood, and OCnotes.

Friday, September 5, 2014
6:00 – 10:00 pm

Location
Frye Galleries

Through a series of musical interventions, Expanding the Now: The Continual Line provides visitors with an additional enrichment and interpretation of Your Feast Has Ended and The Unicorn Incorporated.

This collaborative ensemble features members of The Black Constellation and special guests, including Ishmael Butler and Tendai Maraire of Shabazz Palaces, Erik Blood, and OCnotes.

The Continual Line is based on the artistic exercise of drawing without allowing the pen to leave the paper, a technique seen in the work of Curtis R. Barnes. The musicians will respond to the exhibition from zones situated throughout the galleries, creating a cohesive soundscape by mixing and relaying back to visitors a transient and incidental exhibition companion lasting four hours.
