Deconstructing Empires of Privilege Through Butoh Dance

Workshop with Lin Lucas

Saturday, September 6, 2014
10:00am – 5:00 pm

Art Studio

18 years and up

Inspired by the work in Your Feast Has Ended, students combine meditation with words, poetry, and movement to consider power, privilege, and oppression. Responding to visual and textual prompts, or “provocations,” students create and perform a butoh-inspired dance.

Lin Lucas’ comics and illustrations have appeared in The Stranger, Top Shelf Productions, the Xeric Award-winning graphic novel Two-Fisted Science, and other publications. He is the writer-artist of the mini-series Creepy Joe and a teacher of cartooning and butoh.
