Mix the colors of a Monet, learn brushwork techniques, paint a portrait, and complete an alla prima landscape or still life work, while learning key fundamentals of fine art and many master tips, in a highly supportive, guided, and information-rich environment.

Valerie Collymore is a professional artist skilled in fine art oil painting in the French Impressionist tradition, who has been the subject of numerous solo exhibits with a successful record of artwork sales. She is an experienced and passionate fine art workshop instructor with a demonstrated history of selling out workshops at museums and art institutions. Collymore is an experienced instructor to regular weekly and monthly private students, including participants in the Emerging Artist Program at the Collymore Atelier, faculty instructor at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, and workshop instructor with Workshops in France, where she teaches oil painting from a Chateau in Provence.

Collymore is a former physician, who integrates her background in Science into the teaching of art, by sharing the science in art and by breaking down complex art concepts into easily assimilated and user-friendly units, in a highly supportive environment that favors joyful experimentation and rapid progress.

Advance registration required. Due two weeks before the first day of course or class. To ensure registration, submit completed form and full payment. Space is limited. Registration confirmed by email or mailed receipt.

The Frye Art Museum reserves the right to cancel any course or class. If the Museum cancels a course or class, a full refund will be issued. If participant cancels enrollment more than two weeks prior to start date, a full refund will be issued, less a $25 processing fee. No refunds issued with less than two weeks’ notice. To cancel registration, call 206 432 8200 between 9 am–5 pm Monday–Friday.

Continuing education credits and clock hours are available to educators through Seattle Pacific University (SPU). Payments for fees are paid directly to SPU online. Students will receive a link to register via email one week before the first day of class. The cost for Studio Class credits is $50 for 1 credit, $20 for 10 clock hours. Courses taken for credit or clock hours through SPU may not be repeated.
