Kareem Kandi is a versatile saxophonist and composer with strong roots in jazz, blues, classical, and funk, who for years has been performing throughout the US and internationally, gaining acclaim from critics and audiences alike. Kandi has performed, toured, and recorded with some of the finest musicians in the industry including Patti Labelle, The Seattle Symphony, Julian Priester, The Northwest Repertory Singers, Thomas Marriott, The Tacoma Symphony, The Polyrhythmics, Bill Ramsay, The Staxx Brothers, The Temptations, The Four Tops, and many others.

Kandi completed his Bachelor’s degree from Cornish in 2002 and since then has been very active as a performer, composer, and teacher. Kandi is a teaching artist in residence at The Tacoma School of the Arts and also maintains a full studio of forty private students, conducts weekly jazz classes at Ted Brown Music, coaches ensembles for Seattle JazzED, and regularly conducts masterclasses and workshops at schools around the Pacific Northwest. He is also the director of The Kareem Kandi World Orchestra, The Tacoma Jazz Association, and has served on the Tacoma Arts Commission.


REGISTRATION

Tickets to this program are free of charge, and our seating capacity is limited. Free tickets, limit 2 per person, may be reserved in advance, up to two days before the program. The reserved tickets may be picked up on the day of the program at the desk in the foyer outside the auditorium. There is no late seating, so please arrive at least 15 minutes early. All unclaimed tickets (regardless of reservations) will be released to standby 10 minutes before the program!

TICKETING
