The Art of Floral Arrangement
Workshop with Francesca Lohmann
Saturday, April 4, 2020
12:00 – 1:30 pm
Francesca Lohmann has been working as a florist for the last two years. She found her way into it as a more secure manner of making a living and supporting her sculpture practice. Lohmann possesses a deep love for flowers and the role that they play in celebrations and everyday life. She enjoys working with the quirks and weirdness of real plants, the attention and care they require, and the opportunities that floral work offers to create for the sake of pure pleasure and beauty.
In this workshop, Lohmann will talk through general considerations of composition, including color, texture, shape, and other formal concerns. She will demonstrate three different methods for constructing an arrangement without the use of floral foam, and will share her approaches to gathering product, foraging, shopping at local markets, and growing flowers in the garden.
Costs for supplies have been built into the class fee and will be provided at the workshop.
