Participate in the annual international day of close looking! Join an extended-looking tour of a select number of artworks led by a Frye Educator or pick up a self-guided handout at the Visitor Services Desk. This year’s tour will explore the theme of joy within the colorful and experimental work of Christina Quarles. Capacity is limited to 15 participants.

Create Joy is a program series that invites visitors to find joy and inspiration through arts engagement, sparking creativity and building community.

Slow Art Day is a global event with a simple mission: to help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art.

Christina Quarles is organized by Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and curated by Grace Deveney, former Assistant Curator, with Jack Schneider, Curatorial Assistant, MCA Chicago. The presentation at the Frye Art Museum is organized by Amanda Donnan, Chief Curator. Lead support for this exhibition is provided by The Bennett Collection of Women Realists. Generous additional support is provided by the Frye Foundation and Frye Members. Media sponsorship is provided by Crosscut.
