THE POSITION: On-Call Preparator
DEPARTMENT: Exhibitions
REPORTS TO: Manager, Exhibition Design and Production
SUPERVISES: N/A
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
STATUS: On-call
COMPENSATION: $18 - $27.82/HR
BENEFITS: Seattle Mandated Sick & Safe leave
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Frye Art Museum is seeking skilled preparators to work on an as needed basis to assist the Preparation Department during periods of peak workload or on special projects. Preparators will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties in the preparation, fabrication, installation, and disassembly of exhibition materials along with art handling and packing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- One (1) year experience in the installation of exhibits in a museum or gallery setting.
- Knowledge of standard tools and methods used in exhibit installation and safe art handling practices.
- Ability to problem solve and work well under pressure.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and at heights up to 6 feet
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work areas are inside, in a climate-controlled environment with light to loud background noise. Work may require long periods of sustained standing. Exposure to paint and paint fumes as well as dust and airborne particulate sometime occurs.
