For many of us the end of the year is a moment for reflection, for assessing our goals and achievements over the past twelve months, and for considering the impact we'd like to make in the new year.
There are, of course, many ways to make a difference and further the causes that are most meaningful to you. Below, we'll share three options that you may not have considered for supporting the Frye during your year-end giving.
Here, your support makes a difference. When you give to the Frye, you help create meaningful encounters with art and artists and ensure that the museum and its many programs remain accessible to everyone. As you plan your year-end giving, please consider one of the options below to sustain inspiring exhibitions and creative opportunities for people of all ages.
Give through your IRA
By making a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) or “IRA rollover gift,” you can support the Frye and other organizations, while enjoying tax benefits.
If you are 70½ or older when the distribution is made, you can give directly from an eligible IRA through a QCD. For 2026, the annual limit is $111,000 per person across all qualifying charities. A QCD is excluded from federal taxable income and can satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution, if applicable.
Giving through your IRA is easy—just ask your plan administrator to transfer your gift directly to the Frye Art Museum (Tax ID 91-0659435). You can find a sample request letter here.
Your distribution must be completed by December 31, 2026, to count for this year. We encourage you to initiate your gift December 15 to ensure the funds are distributed from your account before the year end.
Recommend a donor-advised fund (DAF) grant
Recommending a grant to the Frye is a simple way to put your charitable funds into action, while supporting the art and experiences you care about.
Log in to your DAF’s online portal or contact your provider to recommend a grant. Use the following information for your DAF grant:
Legal name: Charles & Emma Frye Free Public Art Museum Inc. Testamentary Trust
Tax ID (EIN): 91-0659435
Address: 704 Terry Ave., Seattle, WA 98104
Give stock
Donating shares to the Frye is a meaningful way to invest in creativity, connection, and access to art. To donate publicly traded stock, instruct your broker to transfer the chosen shares electronically to the Frye’s brokerage account:
Account Name: Frye Art Museum
Account #: 10380448500
Brokerage: The Bank of New York Mellon
DTC#: 8275
Broker: Chad Johnsrud
Tel: (206) 664-8815
BNY Mellon Seattle
1201 Third Avenue
Suite 5010
Seattle, WA 98101
Important: if you plan to transfer stock to the Frye Art Museum, please notify us at (206) 432-8232 or donorservices@fryemuseum.org. This will assist the Frye in properly crediting you for your donation as stock transfers sometimes do not include donor names. Your gift of stock will be valued based on an average of the highest and lowest quoted selling price on the day that it is received in the Frye Art Museum account.
We make every effort to sell the stock immediately upon receipt. For your income tax purposes, your donation is completed on the day your broker transfers it to the museum’s account.
