ART HISTORY LECTURES WITH REBECCA ALBIANI
In contrast to Grandma Moses, Bill Traylor died penniless, his artwork virtually unknown. This Alabama artist, born into slavery around 1854, produced in his later years a colorful outpouring of self-taught art. His work draws inspiration from the blues and the social conditions of the Jim Crow South.
