Every fourth Thursday, the Frye Studio becomes an open, drop-in art space where you can follow your curiosity, experiment freely, and create at your own pace in a welcoming community.

This month, explore the bold shapes, expressive lines, rich textures, and vibrant colors found in Jonathan Lasker’s paintings through hands-on printmaking and drawing. Using soft plasticine, ink pads, sculpting tools, markers, oil sticks, and textured objects, you’ll experiment with stamping, mark making, and pattern building to create your own abstract artwork.

What happens when you press lace, leaves, or everyday objects into clay? How many different marks can you make with a single shape? What new images emerge when you layer prints, colors, and lines?

Inspired by Lasker’s playful approach to abstraction, discover how simple shapes and textures can be combined, repeated, and transformed into dynamic compositions.

Come on your own or bring a friend. Stay for fifteen minutes or the entire session—the choice is yours! All experience levels are welcome, and youth may participate with an accompanying adult. All materials are provided.
