Every fourth Thursday, the Frye Studio becomes an open, drop-in art space where you can follow your curiosity, experiment freely, and create at your own pace in a welcoming community.

This month, join artist and guest curator Adetola Abatan for a collage workshop inspired by the works on view in Artists' Choice. Creative exploration unfolds through Abatan’s interdisciplinary practice, bringing together art, history, science, and theology as interconnected ways of understanding our world. Using a curated collection of images, book and magazine pages, colorful papers, words, and textured materials, create your own collage while reflecting on the exhibition and sharing your unique perspective. 

Come on your own or bring a friend. Stay for fifteen minutes or the entire session—the choice is yours. All experience levels are welcome, and youth may participate with an accompanying adult. All materials are provided.

Adetola Abatan considers herself a polymath with deep interests in art, science, and history as well as theology, and sees these fields as complementary modes of knowledge to understand our world. Her practice casts a critical eye towards arts institutions and questions their role in preserving stagnant ideas of black and brown inferiority, as well as the role of the Creative in challenging these practices. She also performs in the Brazilian dance and music ensemble VamoLá.
