Plein Air Portraiture: Workshop with Camille Trautman

Plein Air Portraiture: Workshop with Camille Trautman

Explore portraiture through the lens of exhibiting artist Camille Trautman in this free, two-part workshop presented with Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW) as part of the Agent for Change series. This program expands access to arts education and celebrates the power of photography to foster social change in our communities.

The workshop draws inspiration from Trautman’s ongoing series The North American LCD, which incorporates the artist’s body within the landscape to explore identity, presence, and place. Start with a visit to the exhibition at the Frye Art Museum led by exhibition curator Alexis L. Silva and the artist, then travel to Volunteer Park for a self-paced photography session.

Later in the week, gather with fellow participants online for a supportive critique and conversation about your work. Each participant may select up to three images to be printed and presented in an informal exhibition at PCNW.

BIPOC and LGBTQ+ artists are especially encouraged to apply to. All experience levels are welcome. Participants may use any camera that feels most accessible, from digital mirrorless or DSLR to a smartphone. Space is limited and preregistration is required.
