Recent Acquisitions
March 06 - September 26, 2027
The Frye Art Museum’s collection has grown considerably in recent years, with 2025–26 marking one of its most significant periods of expansion since the museum was founded. Presented during the Frye’s seventy-fifth anniversary year, Recent Acquisitions offers a look at the museum’s evolving character as a home for modern and contemporary art. The exhibition brings together artists from the Pacific Northwest and beyond, including many—from Vik Muniz and Marie Watt to Kenneth Callahan and Morris Graves—represented in the collection for the first time.
A dedicated section places a monumental carved cedar sculpture by Ursula von Rydingsvard, on extended loan to the Frye, in dialogue with selected recent acquisitions. Drawings, sculptures, and paintings by Guy Anderson, Paul Horiuchi, Hugh Hayden, Koak, and Robyn O’Neil—artists from different generations working in different styles—spark new connections, revealing how materials and process can convey perspectives on topics from the natural world to spirituality.
Recent Acquisitions is organized by Rangsook Yoon, PhD, Senior Director of Curatorial Affairs.
Generous support provided by Frye members.
