Visual Storytelling: Mixed Media Exploration
Inspired by the mixed media artworks featured in My Body is a Basket and An Indigenous Present, this six-week course invites you to explore layering, texture, and material experimentation through a range of mixed media techniques.
Experiment with unique artist materials while developing a final artwork that reflects your own stories, experiences, and creative voice. Guided by a Frye teaching artist, the series encourages playful exploration, creative confidence, and the sharing of ideas within a supportive community of fellow participants.
Hear from guest teaching artist Brenda Mallory as she shares insights into her artistic journey and creative process while exploring her work in the gallery on the second day of class. Mallory's mixed-media sculptures featured in My Body is a Basket incorporate a variety of materials, including cloth, fibers, beeswax, and found objects.
