The Living Stories of “Beau Dick: Insatiable Beings”

Pre-registration for this event has ended. A block of walk-up tickets will be available at the door on the day of the event. If you have pre-registered, please arrive early to secure your seat.

Experience the stories, songs, and traditions behind the masks of Beau Dick: Insatiable Beings. Led by hereditary chief Alan Hunt and Gavin Konschuh (grandson of Beau Dick), this gathering will be a special celebration of Beau Dick’s legacy and Kwakwaka’wakw culture. Enjoy the music, dances, and legends that inspired his work, and share an intimate afternoon with those who knew and learned from Beau Dick in this celebratory closing weekend event.

About the presenters

Alan Hunt is of Kwakwaka'wakw and Tlingit ancestry and currently resides in Alert Bay, BC. Hunt began art making and carving regularly in 2011. In 2013, he began a long-term apprenticeship under master carver Beau Dick, which lasted until Dick's death in early 2017. Like Beau Dick, Alan Hunt dedicates his practice to the promotion of Kwakwaka'wakw culture. Hunt has also enjoyed the great honor of being mentored by such esteemed master carvers as Wayne Alfred, Marcus Alfred, and Bruce Alfred.
