Frye Families: All About Bubbles!

Where can you find bubbles? Join me on a journey in search of bubbles in artworks from the Frye’s collection before making some bubble prints. We’ll create our own colorful bubbles with the materials we have at home and capture them on paper.

Here are the materials you will need for the art activity:

  • Drinking straw

  • Water

  • Liquid dish soap

  • Liquid watercolor, India ink, or food coloring

  • Heavyweight paper, such as watercolor paper or cardstock

  • Containers or cups with a wide opening

  • Cookie tray or a surface you can easily wipe down

Each of the prints you will make is one-of-a-kind. Please be sure to sure to share them with us on social media, using the hashtag #FryeFromHome. You can also download the activity instructions here.

After making our own bubbles and printing from them, we’ll read Big Bad Bubbles, written by Adam Rubin and illustrated by Daniel Salmieri, a story about monsters in La La Land and their fear of bubbles.

BONUS: If you haven’t gotten enough bubbles after the video above, watch this science experiment with friends from Sesame Street and find out how to catch bubbles. Or, you can you get up from your seat and pop some bubbles with this song by GoNoodle!

Have a bubbly day!
