Blip the Blorp

June 07 - September 28, 2008

Blip the Blorp presents a selection of single-channel animation videos made by teens in the 2007–2008 animation programs at the Frye Art Museum and Nova High School. Both programs, taught by artist Stefan Gruber, investigate different techniques of animating through stop-motion. A diversity of animations were created over the course of a year in these two programs. The collection of work here reflects the various ways in which a character, a place, or a story comes alive through a recorded series of tiny gestures. An example is The Trek Up Mt. Bickford, a claymation made in collaboration with artist and expert clay animator, Bruce Bickford. It is just one, among the number of short animations featured that showcase these adept young artists.

Blip the Blorp is cocurated by Stefan Gruber and Yoko Ott.
