Changing Relationships

This year’s annual student exhibition originates from teachers and students working with the artwork and ideas from the special exhibition Hug: Recent Work by Patricia Piccinini at the Frye in the fall of 2007. Teachers were encouraged to bring their students to the exhibition and use the Educator’s Guide and self-guided materials to discuss Piccinini’s artwork with their students. Students were asked to consider the following questions: How far will we go to undo the damage we have done to the environment? Do you think it is a good idea to create new life to help an endangered animal? How is our understanding of the natural world changing? The result of this inquiry is evident in the artwork created for this exhibition.
