The Frye is thrilled to present a one-day workshop inspired by Boren Banner Series: Natalie Krick, in partnership with Photographic Center Northwest’s Agent for Change series. This program is dedicated to expanding access to arts education and highlighting the transformative power of photography to foster social change in our communities.

The day begins with a guided tour led by exhibition curator Alexis L. Silva and artist Natalie Krick. Participants will examine the imbalanced power structures that are embedded in much of historical portraiture and discover how Krick subverts these dynamics in her work through photo manipulation and collage.

In the afternoon, participants will join Natalie Krick in the Frye Art Studio, to further explore the dynamics of photographer and subject. Through experimental collage and redactive poetry techniques, participants will create photo collages that incorporate found objects and personal source materials.

This full-day workshop includes a lunch break and is open to all skill levels, ages 16 and older. Materials are provided, but participants are asked to bring personal photographs or source materials, such as family portraits or printed materials to incorporate into their projects. Female-identifying artists are especially encouraged to participate, due to the focus of the workshop. Registration is limited, and preregistration is required.

Boren Banner Series: Natalie Krick is organized by Alexis L. Silva, Curatorial Assistant.

Generous support provided by 4Culture and Frye Members. Media sponsorship provided by The Stranger.
